Amazing device!

I have tried different devices before like this one and some of them feel limited and have very low quality. This one feels very comfortable to use, good quality and many many possibilities to use it! 40 quick keys per program is just awesome! The only downside is that the material on the back doesn't grip very well on my digital drawing tablet, but I can deal with it any other way!

Handy tool

Just installed, I can see already it will be really handy. Build quality is awesome.
Feedback for future development:
- I'd make the buttons more bulky (beveled edges, even keyboard button like) so we would not need Braille reading skills to find them without looking.

Works with other tablets - With some config

I was looking for nice remote to replace my Wacom one that goes to sleep too often, as the Xencelabs can be configured to never sleep, and it has that beautiful LCD display telling what the buttons do. This listing states that it does not work with Wacom tablets, while a Xencelabs rep on Twitter assured me that it does. It does, but unfortunately their driver installer installed *both* their remote *and* tablet drivers, breaking pressure sensitivity on the Wacom. There is a fix though. If you go to “Program Files/Xencelabs/64/“ and run “remove_hiddriver.bat” it will remove the tablet driver. After a reboot my Wacom was still broken, so I reinstalled the Wacom driver as well, and now both devices are working together wonderfully!! I have reported this info back to Xencelabs and hopefully they can improve their driver installer to avoid this in the future. All things considered, I’m very happy with the remote. The build quality is nice and it feels solid to work with. The dial rotates effortlessly, and the buttons have a nice click to them. 5-star for the product. 5 star for the config utility, and 1 star for the driver installer. I hope that improves in the future, but for now at least you can work around it. EDIT: Tested with an XP-Pen Artist Pro 24” display tablet as well. 0 issues with pressure. It plays well right out of the box with the newer XP-Pen GUI 3.x driver. I didn’t need to remove the new HID driver for it to work.

Really impressive hotkey device, works in all programs and is very customisable.

This product is simply amazing to be honest, I was initially sceptical looking at the price and thinking nah that's too much money for a simple hotkey device with preset functions intended for just a couple of specific programs. Even though I do use a good amount of programs like Lightroom, photoshop and illustrator, I figured that this would just be for those programs and would be dormant for things like CAD work, gaming and even just browsing the internet. I was so wrong about being sceptical about the usefulness of this for non-digital creative programs. This thing is able to work in essentially any program, and you can bind any custom action or key combination to any button on the device. You can have the program remember a specific set of actions or bindings for each program you use, or have a generic all-program profile with simple everyday actions like forward and back for web browsing. When the application detects you focusing on a program it has a profile for, it will automatically swap over to your bindings for that particular program. Each program could then have 5 separate pages of hot swappable bindings, giving you a massive total of 40 quick access options. I'm not a digital artist and don't own a modern drawing tablet from any company, so my use case for this is just pairing it with a standard keyboard and mouse. I fully expect the user experience would be further improved if you were to pair this with a compatible drawing device if you intend to use it for digital drawing. My biggest improvement for a dedicated program is Fusion360, there are a lot of key binds and functions in that program that really benefit from the addition of a dial for quickly adjusting things. For example, I have a dedicated page of hotkeys for the drawing part of the program which gives me access to the more uncommon features that I would otherwise have to dig through menus to access. So instead of wasting time going through the menus or remembering odd key binds the OLED screen gives a constant reminder of which button does what, and you can label them as you choose. The box the quick keys come in is basically fully cardboard and the only piece of plastic in the packaging is the covering on the device itself in the box which is nice to see for sure, it arrived without any damage and doesn’t use an excessive amount of plastic for no reason. Inside you get the device itself with the quick-start guide and a hard shell case for transporting the device and keeping the bits and pieces from getting lost. The case has the USB cable, the wireless dongle and the USB-A to USB-C adapter stored inside. The screen and the buttons work flawlessly, you can easily change absolutely anything including the brightness and orientation of the screen using the downloaded application from the Xencelabs website. Once you download and install the app it will recognize any xencelab product plugged in either wirelessly or via the provided USB-A to USB-C cable, it will then be listed with the remaining battery percentage and can be clicked to modify the saved profiles and bindings etc. You can give each button a custom name and function, and the RGB LED until the dial can be changed between 8 different colours, though I do wish that it let you choose a colour from a standard colour wheel, as 8 is a bit limited. The unit itself is built solidly, it's got a nice heft to it and it won't slip around a surface without lifting it thanks to the weight and grippy rubber padding on the bottom. The wireless mode is just as quick and responsive as wired and the charge easily lasts multiple days depending on usage, it has an auto off after a specified duration of inactivity, so you don't need to remember to turn it on and off as needed. Honestly, Xencelab should do a better job of advertising just how versatile this product is and not just targeting the digital creative crowd. This thing is very useful for a lot of everyday computer tasks and with how customizable the application makes this you can pretty much make it do anything you want. Realistically, even someone who requires a controller for managing a twitch stream would benefit from this once you set it up for it. There is no kidding though, it's an expensive piece of hardware, but the build quality and features make this a dream to use. If you don't mind spending a while setting up everything to your liking, your productivity is going to improve a lot. I wholeheartedly recommend this, at least from my experiences using it on Windows 10.

Intuitive, convenient, programmable

Whether you are working with a drawing tablet or not, the Xencelabs Quick Keys offers productivity benefits you'd never thought were missing until you start using it. From the packaging to the presentation, you do get the sense that this is a high-quality product. I love the included hard case and the overall build quality of the device itself. You can connect the Quick Keys to your computer via USB-C or wirelessly using the included dongle. Unfortunately, it's not a Bluetooth wireless connection, which would have made it easier to use and more compatible across devices. That said, the wireless connection is stable and still pretty convenient if you're already used to using dongles. The Quick Keys device has eight shortcut keys, a mode button, a rotating dial, and a set button. The shortcut keys and dial can be programmed to perform various shortcuts and tasks. For example, the dial can be used to zoom in/out of your workspace. Each mode can have its own color so you know where you're at. The set button switches between shortcut sets and you can have up to 5 programmed (40 shortcuts in total). The Xencelabs software is easy to navigate and it shows the battery status of the Quick Keys. It also integrates well with other Xencelabs products. While many tablets already include a set of shortcut keys, the Quick Keys expands that functionality to be more intuitive and easier to configure. Because I don't own a Xencelabs tablet, I can't say how well it integrates with the Quick Keys, but I don't think it matters as the Quick Keys can operate independently without even the need to have a tablet.
