Xencelabs Tips & Tricks No. 16 – Mac User Tips, Maintenance and Ps Trick

11/13/2024

Hello All -

I hope you are all doing well and enjoying your Xencelabs Pen Displays, Pen Tablets, and Quick Keys.

I love fall: the coolness in the air, the changing colors of the trees, and the challenges that come with photographing in low light while trying to make the vibrant hues of the leaves stand out!

I'm currently reading a book, “A Sand County Almanac,” by Aldo Leopold. If you enjoy spending time in nature, this is a must-read. I read it every fall.

Tip 2:

More Mac Tips…

If you are a Mac user and the Xencelabs Settings panel opens every time you power on or log in to your Mac, there is a setting you can make to turn that off. Here is the FAQ for this fix.

Tip 3:

Xencelabs Product Maintenance

I frequently receive inquiries about the maintenance our customers should perform on a regular basis for our Pen Displays, Pen Tablets, Quick Keys, and Pens.

I recommend using a microfiber cloth and a monitor surface cleaner (I personally use Screen Mom from B&H Photo – not a paid advertisement) to gently wipe down your Display, Pen Tablet, and the back of your Quick Keys on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

Additionally, it's a good idea to clean your pens from time to time. One squirt of the monitor cleaner in a microfiber cloth and run pens through it. This process takes less than a minute and ensures that your devices remain clean and perform at their best. You can read more here.

Mikes Muses:

If you are an Adobe Ps user and you have rotated your image, a quick way to get it back to perfect zero alignment is to press the ESC key. No more trying to get it close to zero. Press the ESC key, and it will be back to zero. A huge call out to Bill Lindsay on our NA sales staff for passing that on to me to share.
